Fall Weather

Speak with many older farmers and almost all of them mention how unusual this fall鈥檚 weather has been.听 Since this is Kansas, most of us consider unusual weather usual, however, this year鈥檚 fall weather has been extreme so far.听 How extreme has it been and potentially mean for crop and livestock producers?

The SWAG合集 Library will host a 鈥淕ame Night鈥 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 8, which will include a 鈥淢inute to Win It鈥 portion that will start at 6:30. The event is free and is open to all.听 Refreshments will be served and all participants will be entered in a drawing for a chance to win a 鈥渄orm food鈥 prize bag.

Games include: Apples to Apples, Battleship, Buzzword, Twister, Monopoly and more.

The SWAG合集 Board of Trustees gathered Tuesday evening for its regular meeting and discussed one of its nine overarching goals, known as ENDs, one of which is 鈥淪WAG合集 Experience.鈥

SWAG合集 will continue its Kansas History Snapshot series, by featuring 鈥淏uffalo Soldiers: An American Legend on the Western Frontier,鈥 a presentation by Fort Larned National Historic Site Park Ranger Celeste Dixon, at 2 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 12 in the Library.听 Catered refreshments will be served.

SWAG合集 is offering woodworking courses from 6 to 9:45 p.m. on Mondays from Nov. 2 to Feb. 22 at Ellsworth High School, 211 W. 11th St. in Ellsworth.

The instructor will be David Weeks.听 Classes of various levels will be available including Woodworking I (18928), Woodworking II (18930) and the chance to take a class focusing entirely on Individual Woodworking Projects (18931).听 Each course will count for three credit-hours.听 The cost is $300 per class and materials fees are dependent on materials used.

Artists at SWAG合集 showcased their talents at the annual Russell Original Art Review Exhibition at the Russell 4-H Building.听 The show ran through Oct. 18 and several SWAG合集 students received awards.

The SWAG合集 Foundation presents scholarships each year from funds received through its fundraising events, endowments and annual scholarship gifts. For the 2015-16 academic year, the Foundation has selected the following students (listed by hometown) for scholarship offers:

SWAG合集 will offer free citizenship classes from 10 a.m. 鈥 noon and 7-9 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays starting on Tuesday, Nov. 3 at the Center for Adult Education, 1025 Main St., Great Bend in room 208.
