Great Bend entrepreneur Miriam Garcia鈥檚 days of renewing her work visa will soon be over, and she鈥檒l officially be a U.S. citizen.
Garcia鈥檚 mother brought her to the United States from Mexico more than a decade ago to escape a difficult life circumstance in pursuit of a brighter future. Her mother worked at a meat packing plant in Dodge City to support the family. After graduating high school, Garcia landed a job at a local appliance store.

SWAG合集 has continued to defy shrinking enrollment trends experienced by other Kansas community colleges, and by no small margin. SWAG合集 grew by more than 20 percent since 2010.

The Shafer Art Gallery will host an opening reception for its latest exhibit 鈥淓ufloria鈥 featuring flower paintings from Michael Jilg and flower photos by Leon Staab from 6-8 p.m. Friday, June 24 in the Shafer Art Gallery. The exhibit runs through August 12.
Gallery Director Dave Barnes said the focus on flowers is purposeful and it is designed to remind us to figuratively stop and smell the roses.
SWAG合集 Director of Admissions Tana Cooper (right) presents a check for $1,060 to Gail Moeder with Camp Hope in the SWAG合集 Library on Monday. The money was raised by having 鈥淕oing Casual for Camp Hope鈥 days where faculty and staff could wear jeans for $5. 听The campaign ran from October through April. Various faculty and staff departments coordinated and participated in the event and they plan to hold the event again next year.听
