SWAG合集 Welding Instructor Josh Snodgrass听has been听recognized by听the Kansas Department of Corrections as the 2019 Contract Employee of the Year听for his exemplary听performance听teaching听incarcerated individuals听at听the听Larned听Correctional Mental Health Facility (LCMHF).听Local awards are designated per facility, and听awardees are in the running for a state-level award to be determined by the Kansas Department of听Corrections.听

A dozen different courses at听SWAG合集听are now offered with no textbook costs听thanks to an effort by instructors to shift to other types of resources. The movement in higher education is called Open Educational Resources (OER). At SWAG合集, it鈥檚 referred to as听Low-Cost (LC) and No-Cost (NC).听Low cost means there might be fees for materials or a book, but it would be less than $50.听听

It鈥檚 about to get wacky in the Fine Arts Auditorium as SWAG合集 Theatre presents its fall production 鈥淐harley鈥檚 Aunt,鈥 by Brandon Thomas. The show will have four runs at the following dates and times with social distancing guidelines being followed and live-stream tickets also available: 7:30 p.m. Oct. 2, 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Oct. 3 and 2 p.m. Oct. 4. Tickets can be purchased at theatre.bartonccc.edu.

Grady Bolding, 33, of Great Bend who plays 鈥淟ord Fancourt Babberley鈥 said the play is a great way to escape mentally.

Faculty members from across the Performing Arts Department will showcase their skills at a 鈥淔aculty Recital鈥 at 4 p.m. on Sept. 24 in the Fine Arts Auditorium. Social distancing guidelines will be followed. The event will also be broadcast via Facebook.com/bartoncommunitycollege. There will be dance, instrumental and vocal performances.

Director of Instrumental Activities Dr. Luis Palacios said the faculty members are excited to have the chance to take the stage.
