Holland Mosier of Great Bend and Jordan Klima of Hoisington were named SWAG合集鈥檚 2014 Outstanding Graduates. Dean of Student Services Angie Maddy introduced them and presented their awards, after which they took the opportunity to address their fellow graduates during the college鈥檚 44th commencement ceremony Friday.

Residents of Russell and Ellsworth looking to further their educations during the summer months can do so via SWAG合集 by attending an on-site enrollment from 7-8 p.m. Tuesday, May 27 at Russell High School, 565 E. State St., Russell.听 Students can also enroll online at听.

Classes begin June 2.听 English Composition I and Introduction to Sociology will be offered in Ellsworth and Russell and Public Speaking will also be offered in Russell.听

High school students wanting to get a head start on their career this summer can take advantage of dozens of SWAG合集鈥檚 career and technical online classes at little to no cost to them, except textbooks and program fees as applicable.听 The classes are available via BARTonline.org through Senate Bill 155. SWAG合集 will present a student recital of instrumental and vocal performances at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, May 8 in the Dorothy Moses Morrison Chapel, located in the Fine Arts Building, F-157.听 The recital is free.

Legitimate excuses are in abundant supply for Stephanie Hoover, but one would be hard-pressed to get her to use one.

Hoover has three daughters, Albi, 3 months; Hailey, 4 and Marley, 5. In addition to parental duties, she has taken on the huge responsibility of providing their educations by homeschooling them.

This endeavor is the motivation fueling her pursuit of an online associate degree in Early Childhood Education from SWAG合集鈥檚 online learning platform, BARTonline.org.

The SWAG合集 Planetarium is getting a 鈥渞e-boot,鈥 as the staff is calling it.

During the re-boot, the 1960s technology previously in use will be on display, then lowered into its housing to make way for a high-definition projector, using a series of precisely curved mirrors to proportionally project the image onto the Planetarium's 365-degree dome.

The SWAG合集 Theatre Department will hold its last performance of the school year at the Thespian Showcase at 3 p.m. Thursday, May 1 in the Fine Arts Auditorium.

SWAG合集 Theatre students will perform monologues, scenes, musical theatre, improvisation and original work. The SWAG合集 Theatre Department will hand out year-end acting and technical awards. Admission is free and complimentary refreshments will be provided at a reception following the performances and ceremony.

The SWAG合集 Camp Aldrich Conference Center dining hall caught fire early Saturday morning.听 The building was not in use at the time and no one was injured. The fire department was called by camp personnel and they were able to contain the fire.听 听The cause is yet to be determined and it is unknown at this time if the building will be salvageable. 听

The SWAG合集 Library is a resource available to the community and area residents are invited to an open house from 1-3 p.m. April 14.

Attendees will have an opportunity to meet library staff and learn about library resources, services and recent additions.听 There will be a prize drawing and free refreshments.
