SWAG合集鈥檚 Shafer Art Gallery will host an opening reception for an exhibit featuring the Kansas-inspired works of artists Doloris Pederson and Christina Lamoureaux titled 鈥淧ulse of the Prairie鈥 from 6-8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 16 in the Shafer Art Gallery.听 Artist talks and performances will be at 6:15 and 7:30 p.m.
Shafer Art Gallery director Dave Barnes said the exhibit is a great showcase of the beauty and intrigue of Kansas.

SWAG合集 History Instructor Linda McCaffery will present a course focusing on WWII and the Cold War from 1:30-3:30 p.m. Tuesdays, Jan. 27 through March 31 in the Fine Arts building, Room F-30.

The Shafer Art Gallery has installed an educational display to illustrate the complex process the Gallery鈥檚 namesake Gus Shafer utilized to create his famous bronze statue collection.
The exhibit was paid for through private donations from the Bill McKown estate.听 McKown鈥檚 generosity is recognized via signage, which names the exhibit 鈥淏ill McKown Presents: How to Make a Metal Horse.鈥澨 Mckown passed away in April of 2014.

SWAG合集鈥檚 Center for Adult Education will soon be starting its 9-week GED Preparation Class.
The orientation session, which is a prerequisite for the course, will be held from 9 a.m. to noon on Jan. 5-9 at 1025 Main St. in Great Bend. Those interested can call ahead or arrive on the first day of orientation.
Regular coursework begins on Jan. 12 and is offered from 9 a.m.鈥搉oon Monday, Tuesday and Thursday or in the evenings from 5:30-8:30 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday.

SWAG合集 will offer outreach classes for the spring 2015 semester at St. John High School, 406 N. 听Monroe.听 General Psychology will meet from 6-9 p.m. Tuesdays, Jan. 13 through May 12.听 Public Speaking will meet from 6:15-9:15 p.m. Thursdays, Jan. 15 through May 14.
Each course is worth three credit hours.听 Students can also enroll by calling Enrollment Services at (620) 792-9252.听 Cost per course is $291.

SWAG合集 offices will close for holiday break Monday, Dec. 22.听 All offices will reopen Monday, Jan. 5.听 Spring semester classes will begin Monday, Jan. 12.
A SWAG合集 student accosted an instructor at about 2 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 9.
The student has been incarcerated and is not expected to be released anytime soon. Students, faculty and staff are safe.
The primary objective of SWAG合集鈥檚 Campus Safety personnel was to remove the student from the public area. The student was moved to an office where a Campus Safety employee attempted to defuse the situation. The employee contacted authorities and had additional staff on hand to minimize the student鈥檚 contact with the public.

Rigo Razo has a wife, four children and a full time job, but he still manages to take two classes each semester. He will eventually earn a newly offered Business Management and Leadership Certificate with an Entrepreneurial Emphasis at SWAG合集.
