SWAG�ϼ� has announced the winners of its Sidewalk Chalk Art Contest.�� The winners are as follows: Abby Petz and Andrea Klepper, Taylor Pennington, and Marcus Pastran. ��Each individual winner received a $100 gift certificate and the collaborative pair will split the winnings.����

About 100 Kansas high school students flocked to SWAG�ϼ� to get hands-on experience from SWAG�ϼ�’s art professionals and participate in a juried art exhibit on Thursday.

SWAG�ϼ� Art Instructor Steve Dudek and Piano Instructor Karole Erikson had their work accepted into the 46^th Annual Smoky Hill Art Exhibition.

Erikson’s photo “Down by the River” and Dudek’s painting “Golden Koi” were both accepted.�� There were about 200 works submitted and 62 were selected for exhibition.

The exhibit will be at the Hays Arts Council Gallery 112 E. 11^th St. in Hays and will be on display through June.��

SWAG�ϼ�’s 45^th commencement is set for 7 p.m. Friday, May 15, in the SWAG�ϼ� Gymnasium.��

After brief comments from administrators, Chairman of the Board of Trustees Mike Johnson will confer the degrees. Vice President Dr. Penny Quinn will present the graduates and College Trustees will award the diplomas.�� SWAG�ϼ� will also recognize two outstanding graduates who will also address the crowd.�� Quinn will also recognize SWAG�ϼ�'s Distinguished Instructor Awards.

The Beta Phi Eta chapter of Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) from SWAG�ϼ� at Fort Leavenworth will be holding a “Food and Needs” drive from May 11-21 in support of the Leavenworth Mission Community Store and Food Pantry.

SWAG�ϼ� Vice President Dr. Penny Quinn has accepted a position as President at Kaskaskia College in Centralia, Ill.

The public is invited to a come-and-go farewell reception from 3-5 p.m. Friday, May 8 in room F-30 of the Fine Arts Building.

Dr. Quinn has served SWAG�ϼ� as Vice President for six years.

SWAG�ϼ� Medical Laboratory Technician student Amber Gabel of Hays was named Outstanding Student on April 28 by the Kansas Society of Clinical Laboratory Science (KSCLS) at the KSCLS and Clinical Laboratory Managers Association (CLMA) annual conference. Gabel also received a $250 scholarship from CLMA. Requirements focused on GPA, credit hours enrolled, communication, instructor recommendations and teamwork.��
