The nursing program at SWAGºÏ¼¯ has announced a secondary deadline accepting student applications for the 18-19 academic year until March 1. Those who applied during the first round of applications will receive priority status. Additional applicants from the secondary deadline will fill seats as available for both the Practical Nursing Certificate and the Associates in Applied Science Degree in Nursing.

The transition to civilian life can be a drastic and stressful adjustment for Soldiers, but when Sgt. 1st Class Craig Jacobs walks into a SWAGºÏ¼¯ classroom at the college’s Grandview Plaza Campus, he brings with him an air of lightheartedness, despite his looming last-day in the military of April 30.
He credits the attitudes of the faculty and staff at the college’s satellite location for creating an atmosphere of belonging.

SWAGºÏ¼¯ freshman Dorian Lueth will participate in the Kansas Intercollegiate Orchestra during the 2018 Kansas Music Educators Association state convention February 22-24 in Wichita. He will be the only community college student performing in the 72-piece orchestra comprised of students from 11 colleges and universities throughout Kansas. Lueth plays bass guitar in SWAGºÏ¼¯â€™s Pep Band and Jazz Band, double bass in the Prairie Winds Concert Band and viola in the SWAGºÏ¼¯ Orchestra.

First, there is nothing to report on the drought front.Ìý The area growing from abnormally dry to moderate drought, as is the severe condition, is expanding north and eastward but overall little has changed.Ìý With all the concern over possible wheat lost from cold temperatures combined with the drought, it might be helpful to understand how cool season plants such as winter wheat and canola adapt to survive winter.Ìý First let’s tackle monocots, grasses, like winter wheat and then dicots, broadleaves like winter canola.

SWAGºÏ¼¯â€™s Center for Adult Education will start its nine-week GED Preparation Class on March 12 with an application deadline of February 26.
SWAGºÏ¼¯ has introduced a new orientation schedule and attendance policy for those interested in the preparation class.
Students will now be required to attend the three orientation classes, March 12-14, and the first day of class on March 15, failure to attend all four days will result in removal of the student from the program.
