This may sound a bit like a broken record, but the entire scope of the agricultural industry needs help.Ìý There is a chronic shortage of qualified workers across a range of positions in crop and livestock production, management, and agribusinesses in general.Ìý And the shortage is projected to grow.Ìý Compounding this shortage are several issues:

SWAGºÏ¼¯ Voice Students participated in the Tabor Voice Festival at Tabor College in Hillsboro on Saturday. All participants performed for a panel of three judges that gave critiques on their performances.Ìý Students could elect to perform in either Classical or Musical Theatre categories, or both.Ìý

Brenda Ortiz has loved every minute of her time helping patients as a Medical Assistant at Heart of Kansas Family Health Care, Inc., but she wasn’t always so sure-footed about her career.
She fancied herself a teacher after graduating from Macksville High School in 2004, and so began her pursuit of a career in education.

A wide range of local artists’ work will be on display at the Shafer Gallery as part of the SWAGºÏ¼¯ County Arts Council Friends and Acquaintances exhibit now through Dec. 8. The show is underwritten by the Bill J. McKown Memorial Endowment distributed by the Golden Belt Foundation.

SWAGºÏ¼¯ will offer transitioning Fort Riley Soldiers, and family members with DOD ID cards, a grant-funded two-week certificate program at no cost to participants.
The Hazardous Waste Worker (HWW) program gives Soldiers credentials to help them find work after their tenure in the US Army ends. The next course is set from Nov. 26 through Dec. 7 at 100 Continental Ave, Grandview Plaza, which is just north of I-70 at exit 299.

The SWAGºÏ¼¯ Theatre Department will host a play-writing workshop from 9:30 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Nov. 3 in the Fine Arts Auditorium to kick off its Third Annual Original Play Series, in which three original plays will be chosen and produced in the spring.
Playwright Rob Munden will present the workshop and help attendees of all skill levels work on their projects in a welcoming environment.
