SWAG合集 will be closed Monday, May 27 for Memorial Day.听

The college is now on summer hours. Office hours are 7:30 a.m. 鈥 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday.听 The college will be closed on Fridays through July 26.听

The Shafer Art Gallery will host an opening reception for the Kansas Educators: In the Collection exhibit at 6 p.m. May 16 and will feature works from Birger Sandzen, Harry Krug and Mick Jilg. Gallery director remarks and artist talks will begin at 6:45. Refreshments will be served.

Kieora Nichols of Jacksonville, N.C. and Nolan Riley of Augusta were named SWAG合集鈥檚 2019 Outstanding Graduates. Dean of Student Services Angie Maddy introduced them and presented their awards during the college鈥檚 49th commencement ceremony Friday.

SWAG合集 has announced its 2018-19 Brant J. Ballhorst Student Ambassador of the Year awards. Named in memory of Brant J. Ballhorst, the award recognizes two outstanding Student Ambassadors each year. The winners this year were Delaney Smith of Hoisington and Joanna Lockwood of Hoisington.听

SWAG合集 will offer transitioning Fort Riley Soldiers, Veterans and family members with DOD ID cards, a grant-funded two-week certificate program at no cost to participants.

The Hazardous Waste Worker Training (HWWT) program gives Soldiers credentials to help them find work after their tenure in the US Army ends. The next course is set from June 3-14 at SWAG合集鈥檚 campus near Junction City: 100 Continental Ave, Grandview Plaza, Kan. which is just north of I-70 at exit 299.

SWAG合集 is hosting auditions for its dance company, SWAG合集 Dance Theater, at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 14 in Studio 34, located in the Sunflower housing units on SWAG合集鈥檚 campus.

Members of SWAG合集 Dance Theater will experience trips with the company to perform in diverse venues, attend workshops and see dance concerts live. With this time set aside, students can focus on the art form of dance in the styles of modern-contemporary, jazz and ballet.

SWAG合集鈥檚 49th commencement is set for 7 p.m. Friday, May 10, in the SWAG合集 Gymnasium. The ceremony will be following a shorter format this year. There will be no official speaker.

After brief comments from President Dr. Heilman, Vice President of Student Services Angie Maddy will present the 2019 Outstanding Graduate awards to Kieora Nichols and Nolan Riley. 听

Law enforcement may be in Keaton Goering鈥檚 blood, but family history isn鈥檛 the only factor that influences his new career. Goering鈥檚 grandfather was in law enforcement for five decades and his father was a detective. However, his experiences at SWAG合集 have kept him motivated.

The new SWAG合集 County Sheriff鈥檚 Office (BCSO) patrol deputy successfully completed SWAG合集鈥檚 Criminal Justice curriculum and is scheduled to attend the Kansas Law Enforcement Training Center this summer.
