Area high school students from Ellinwood, Great Bend, Solomon, Strafford, Larned and Hoisington came to SWAG合集 to get hands-on experience from art professionals and participate in a juried art exhibit Thursday, April 6.
This year the exhibit and workshop was sponsored by the SWAG合集 County Arts Council (BCAC).

SWAG合集 art students will line the walls of the Shafer Art Gallery with their work during the SWAG合集 Student Art Exhibit juried art show 6-8 p.m. April 21. The show will run through May 12.
The reception will include an awards ceremony where cash awards will be given for each category. The awards were donated by The Credit Union of America in Great Bend, Karen and Dale Shaner, Don and Barbara Beahm, The Great Bend Tribune, Eagle Communications, Bob Feldt, Kent Weltmer and Maureen Leahy.

SWAG合集鈥檚 Community Service Organization and Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society will host a 5K walk/run 8 a.m. Sunday, April 30. Registration will be听7:30 a.m. in the Fine Arts circle drive at SWAG合集. All proceeds will be donated to Camp Hope.
The course begins and ends at SWAG合集. There will be two groups: 16 and over and 15 and under. The top three finishers in each group will be awarded immediately following the race.

SWAG合集 will be closed on Friday, April 14 and Monday, April 17 for Easter break. SWAG合集's Center for Adult Education and Shafer Art Gallery will also be closed. The college's regular class schedule and office hours will resume Tuesday, April 18.

The SWAG合集 Orchestra will perform at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 11 in the Shafer Art Gallery. 鈥淪trictly Strings鈥, as the title implies, will only feature the stringed instruments.
The 12-piece orchestra is comprised of high school and college students and members of the SWAG合集 and Pawnee communities. The show will feature a wide selection of music from Mozart and Handel to the 鈥淔eather Theme鈥 from Forest Gump.
