Students from Great Bend, Ellinwood, Larned and Hoisington high schools have their art on display as part of the Shafer Gallery鈥檚 鈥淰ortex Exhibit鈥 from May 2-4. The Shafer Gallery is open 10 a.m.鈥5 p.m. Monday through Saturday. Admission is always free.

Risk management is always a hot topic in agriculture.听 What is typically meant is managing financial risk through tools such as insurance, forward contracting or cropping/livestock production strategies to minimize the risk of failure.听 We most often associate risk management with money, economic survival.听 What can we do to stay in business and make sure our operation can stay in business and hopefully turn a decent profit?听 Today, let鈥檚 focus on another form of risk management 鈥 avoiding serious injury and even death on the farm.

SWAG合集 will present a student recital of instrumental and vocal performances at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, May 5 in the Dorothy Moses Morrison Chapel, located in the Fine Arts Building, F-157. 听The recital is free and open to the public.

SWAG合集 will host its ninth annual Sidewalk Art Contest May 2-4 on the sidewalk outside the Shafer Art Gallery.
The contest is open to anyone who wants to participate. Artists need to register and pick up their free chalk at the Shafer Gallery between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. on any of the three days. Artists must have their work completed by 4 p.m. Wednesday, May 4.
