Sophomore art student Brodie Owens鈥 work was accepted into the 50th Annual Smoky Hill Art Exhibition. His piece won a $100 prize. The exhibit will be at the Hays Arts Council Gallery 112 E. 11th St. in Hays and will be on display through June 8.
Owens鈥 entry was a black and white photograph titled 鈥淥ld Timey.鈥
鈥淚鈥檓 very pleased that Brodie had a piece accepted and am happy to see how he has developed as an artist,鈥 SWAG合集 Art Instructor Scott Arthur said. 鈥淭he experience of entering art exhibitions is something I would encourage all SWAG合集 students to pursue.鈥 听听
Owens will be graduating from SWAG合集 in May and starting school in the fall at Wichita State University where he will focus on Media Arts.听The annual Smoky Hill Art Exhibition is a statewide juried fine art competition听that kicks off with an art walk around downtown Hays.
In addition to Owens, SWAG合集 Art Instructor Scott Arthur鈥檚 painting 鈥淪till Life with Nut,鈥 SWAG合集 Keyboard Instructor Karole Erikson鈥檚 photo 鈥淔alse Dandelion Pods鈥 and former SWAG合集 Art Student Jay Miller鈥檚 photograph 鈥淪ands of Time鈥 were all accepted into the exhibit.
