Fueled by a desire to be a good role model for her daughter, SWAG合集 at Fort Riley graduate Ciara Adamo found everything she needed right on base to embark on her educational journey to become a forensic psychologist.
"As a spouse of a military member, SWAG合集 made it easy for me because they offered flexible learning options, and the classes offered through the LSEC Program are available at no cost and at an accelerated pace," she said.
SWAG合集 is a designated "military-friendly" school and has been offering educational opportunities for the Big Red One since 1982. In that time, SWAG合集 developed expertise in accommodating the unique and demanding lives of soldiers and their families, and Adamo experienced this expertise throughout her experience.
"I absolutely would say SWAG合集 is military-friendly because they offer flexible class options such as evening and online classes," she said. "This flexibility allows soldiers and spouses to pursue further education while fulfilling their other obligations."
SWAG合集's LSEC program is a core element of their offerings, and active-duty soldiers, their dependents, veterans, and Department of Defense employees can take advantage of the program at no cost, thanks to initiatives provided by the military.
"The affordability is important because it allows you to pursue further education without the financial burden, which means the money I saved I can now put towards my bachelor's degree," she said.
Adamo graduated in December and now plans to earn her bachelor's degree in forensic psychology and doctorate in psychology. She hopes to then become a victim advocate.
"I want to go into this field to help others," she said. "I believe no one should feel alone in any situation."
Adamo said it was ultimately the people who made her time at SWAG合集 special.
"My SWAG合集 experience was nothing but positive," she said. "The faculty is amazing, the front desk admins are wonderful, and the counselors are helpful."
