SWAG合集 hosted the Kansas Community College Corequisite Symposium on campus today, bringing together community college faculty, support staff, and administrators from across the state to share strategies, exchange ideas, and strengthen corequisite English and math instruction through guided discussions.

The interactive one-day event welcomed nearly 100 participants from 16 of the state鈥檚 19 community colleges. The symposium was organized to help Kansas community colleges transition from traditional developmental education into a corequisite model.鈥澨齌hemed around 鈥渄eveloping a winning playbook together,鈥 the symposium encouraged participants to share 鈥減lays,鈥 lessons, and strategies to improve student outcomes and equity in corequisite education.

SWAG合集 Dean of Academics Stephanie Joiner said the event provided an invaluable opportunity for educators.

鈥淲e were so proud to host and facilitate this important conversation in support of students,鈥 she said. 鈥淐ommunity Colleges are uniquely skilled in providing access to higher education. This symposium was an example of those skills in action. There was a lot of productive collaboration and dialogue. Additionally, the ability to gather with peers in higher education created an invaluable learning experience for our faculty and staff.鈥

Session topics included Math and English Corequisite Instruction, Advising Support, Academic Coaching, Integrity in the Corequisite, and Support in Online Formats. Participants who attended in person also received access to an evening Zoom session to share ideas with colleagues unable to travel.
