SWAG合集 History Instructor Linda McCaffery will present 鈥淢ary Elizabeth Lease: Why I am a Populist,鈥 at 2 p.m. Thursday, April 10 in the Library.听 Catered refreshments will be served.
鈥淚 will portray Mary Elizabeth Lease (Wichita) campaigning for presidential candidate, James Weaver, of the Populist Party,鈥 McCaffery said of her presentation.听 鈥淲hat is extraordinary is that women in 1892 could not vote and were not involved in politics.听 She even spoke at the national convention in Omaha.鈥澨
The presentation is part of SWAG合集 Library鈥檚 鈥淜ansas History Snapshot鈥 series and is sponsored by the Cohen Center for Kansas History, which is dedicated to preserving resources in Kansas and inspiring research in Kansas history.
